{"id":494,"date":"2018-05-09T11:25:40","date_gmt":"2018-05-09T15:25:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mymindfulwayoflife.com\/blog4\/?p=494"},"modified":"2018-05-12T19:33:01","modified_gmt":"2018-05-12T23:33:01","slug":"mind-me-i-said-mindful-parenting-a-mothers-and-fathers-day-gift-for-the-whole-family","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/mymindfulwayoflife.com\/blog4\/mind-me-i-said-mindful-parenting-a-mothers-and-fathers-day-gift-for-the-whole-family\/","title":{"rendered":"Mind Me, I said!\u2014Mindful Parenting: A Mother\u2019s and Father\u2019s Day Gift for the Whole Family"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The months of May and June mark the time of year that kids are scrambling around to honor their mother and father for that one special day.\u00a0 Visions of elaborate breakfasts in bed may lead to trails of dripping eggs and clouds of flower in the kitchen aftermath.\u00a0 Painted handprints create everything from flower petals to butterfly wings, pronouncing each child\u2019s love for mommy or daddy.\u00a0 So on that day we may ease up on expectations of clean kitchens and even take the time to tune in and admire the most simplistic of our children\u2019s creations.\u00a0<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>However precious these moments are, it is often not long before we find ourselves frustrated by things not being quite as we expect.\u00a0 Perhaps it is the shrill of the kids arguing over who gets to give mommy the flower or the two hour (<em>two hour!) <\/em>wait at the wonderful new brunch place. It\u2019s easy to move from being in a place of gratitude to being somewhere much less forgiving and find yourself behaving with a level of unskilled behavior equal to the kids\u2019.\u00a0 So, what\u2019s a parent to do?<\/p>\n<p>Join us for the next month as we explore concepts of mindful parenting.\u00a0 Know that most of these ideas will apply to the larger area of relationships as a whole.\u00a0 However, we will also hone in on unique challenges and opportunities for mindfulness that being a parent highlights.<\/p>\n<p>We are excited to kick off this series with an exclusive<a href=\"http:\/\/mymindfulwayoflife.com\/blog4\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/The-Interview-With-Videos.m4v\"> interview with author Jennifer Laurent<\/a>, who will talk with us about her journey with mindful, or conscious, parenting.\u00a0 Her book, Excerpts From The Heart of a Mom, explores 25 concepts of conscious parenting.\u00a0 We invite you to submit questions and share thoughts in the
